2024-25 Merit Scholarship Deadlines

2024-25 Merit Scholarship Deadlines

College Kickstart compiles a sampling of schools with explicit deadlines, along with some stats to help you gauge the size and breadth of the institution’s merit offerings. In some cases, like Boston University and USC, there is a hard deadline. At other schools, like Indiana University and many other public institutions, it’s a “priority” deadline.

Important Note: There are many schools where an RD app must be received EARLY to be considered for merit. This is why it is so important to keep making progress on your application essays after your first set of deadlines in October or November. Read the application institutions for every school on your list to see if there is a merit deadline that is earlier than the application deadline.

Colleges Where Demonstrated Interest is Important or Very Important

Colleges Where Demonstrated Interest is Important or Very Important

What is demonstrated interest?

Demonstrated interest (DI) is something universities measure to determine the level of interest a student has in their school. It may include:

  • Signing up for a mailing list
  • Opening and clicking through emails
  • Reading a school’s website
  • Attending a webinar or virtual info session
  • Attending an on-campus info session or tour
  • Attending a college fair and talking to an admissions rep
  • Talking to students, staff, or faculty
  • Submitting optional components of an application
  • Following or engaging with a school on social media
  • Applying early decision

College Kickstart has compiled a list of popular colleges where the Common Data Set entry for “level of applicant’s interest” is reported as important or very important.  Head over to their site for the list!

Regular Decision Notification Dates

Regular Decision Notification Dates

March snuck up on us! If you are waiting for regular decision results, they will begin to release in a few weeks. Sometimes schools release before their notification date; this year, however, we have already seen a few schools push out their release dates. With application numbers up at many schools, who knows if schools will be running ahead or behind schedule.

Every year my favorite college data site, College Kickstart, compiles a list of regular decision release dates and updates it frequently when changes are made.

Review the list here, and keep an eye on your email and school portals for release updates.
